To the editor, Allergic diseases are a worldwide public health problem, which exhibit a series of severity and vary prevalence among several types [1]. Alterations of metabolites have been detected in allergic disease patients [2, 3], whereas few studies focus on the association between serum metabolites and allergic diseases [4]. Here, we harnessed the genome-wide association studies database (GWAS) and systematically assessed the links between serum metabolites and common allergic diseases by using twosample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to explore whether serum metabolites play a role in the pathophysiologic changes and thus give new insights to the treatment and prevention of allergic diseases.
