The curative effect of CO2 laser in treatment of
glottic carcinoma has been focused on for a long
time. The oncologic results were based on the
comparison with conventional methods, survival rate
and laryngeal function outcome. Data in the past
literature produced convincing
evidence that
endoscopic
surgery with CO2 laser can be
considered as a valid altemative to radiotherapy and
open neck surgery (larynfissure cordectomy, vertical
partial laryngectomy, etc). The 5-year survival rate
reached 85% - 100%.1-3 Its curative effect and
advantages. have
been
approved
by many
specialists. This method has not been used widely
and retrospective analysis for the large-scale clinical
trials has not been reported so far. The aim of this
study was to retrospectiely evaluate the oncologic
results in patients with glottic carcinoma, determine
the aplication and complication of CO2 laser
treatment, and analyze coherent factors affecting
curative effect and summarize treatment experience.
