Purpose: To evaluate the prevalence and causes of visual inpaimen amongChinese children aged 3 to 6 years in Bejing
Design: Population- based prevalence sunvey. Presenting and pinhole visualacuity were tested using picture optotypes or, in children withpinhole
vision < 6/18, a Snellen tumblig E chart. Comprehensive eye examinations and cycloplegic refaction were caried out for children with pinbole
vision < 6/18 in the betterseingeye.
