Surgical removal of IOFBs requires vitrectomy and extraction using a magnet or
forceps.
1, 2 However, the use of magnets or forceps is generally limited to the removal
of small, mobile foreign bodies. In contrast, these surgical instruments encounter
considerable difficulties when attempting to extract larger foreign bodies, especially
those adhered to the scleral wall.3, 4 We report a modified suture-assisted technique
using a self-locking loop to extract sclera-embedded IOFBs effectively and safely.
