Purpose: The use ofanti-metabolites improved thesuccess rate oftrabeculectomyremarkably. However, italso increased theincidence ofthinwallblebs. Wesupposethat theaqueous humor may egress fromthethin-wall blebs into thetear. Sincetheconcentration ofascorbicacid in aqueous humor is ten times greater than that in tears. Weevaluated thechanges ofascorbicacid concentration in tear by ultraviolet spectrophotometer in patients with thin-wallblebs, thick wall blebsand normalsubjects to testify our hypothesis.
